Creating Personal Webspace on Bryn Mawr's Server
Please note: It will take a least one business day for your webspace
to be created.
1. Go to www.brynmawr.edu/computing
2. Click on Account Tools (WebCAT)
3. Click on Request Account/Reset Password
4. Click on Account Request Form
5. Fill out the form (select New Account and Web-Personal
site in Type of Request field)

6. Continue to the next page, if you have any additional comments for
computing staff, include them into the "Additional Comments"
space. Otherwise, click "Submit."
7. You should get a confirmation that your request is received.
8. You will probably have to wait one business day before your account
is set up (you will receive a confirmation email).
9. After your webspace is created, you will be sent an e-mail from Computing
Services conatining instructions for accessing your webspace and the
address of your webspace on the web.
10. To access your webspace, log on to ada.brynmawr.edu with
an FTP client (such as WS-FTP or Fetch). If the client does not
immediately go to your home directory, select 'change directory'
and enter '~'. This will bring you to your home directory. In
your home directory, you should find a file / link called public_html.

11. Double click on this to enter your webspace directory. Because
there are no files in the public_html folder to start with, your first
files would most likely be a webpage you have created called index.html.
The first page that appears when someone goes to your site usually has
the filename index.html.

12. Access your webpage in a web browser using the address mentioned
in the e-mail from Computing. The address should be something like
http://bartik.brynmawr.edu/students/myusername
