Bryn Mawr Women in the Arts

Bryn Mawr is famous for producing scholars, scientists, activists, and journalists. But alumnae have also become writers, actresses, poets, and artists. Seven of the most prominent are featured here, including two Pulitzer Prize winners. There are dozens of others, as well, including the poet HD; Katharine Sergeant White, who was fiction editor of The New Yorker from 1925 to 1960; dancer and ethnomusicologist Gertrude Prokosch Kurath; and, of course, the most famous of all, actress Katharine Hepburn.
